LYDDEN (St. Mary) is a parish in the union of Dover, hundred of Bewsborough, lathe of St. Augustine, E division of the county of Kent, 5 miles NW from Dover. It is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of Kent. Nearby at Wootton is the Lydden race circuit, the birthplace of the sport of Rallycross.
Lydden St Mary the Virgin is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Canterbury. It forms part of Temple Ewell, with Lydden's benefice.
The church of St Mary, Church Lane, Lydden, has been designated as a grade II* listed building.
The Parish Council meets regularly on the first Wednesday of each month, except in January and August when there are no meetings. It is responsible for overseeing all local planning applications and dealing with any problems that occur in the village.
